Theme of Simon (VRC6 Arrange Castlevania Series Medley Remake Vol.2) — Yone2008, 2016

0:00 Theme of Simon Belmont (Super Castlevania IV) — Masanori Adachi/Sōji Tarō, 1991/'92 And this is how we end the month of June, with an underrated banger. I underrated it, that is. In fact, after listening to the original, I think I prefer this version a lot more. It sounds a lot rawer, and surely a lot more emotional because of that. But what really stood out here is how the sawtooth is used at the beginning··· right off the bat it plays some high frequencies, tho' quietly, just to emphasize the pulses' timbres. Definitely a smart decision here. Then, you get the 2A03 pulses also making part of the melody. In Konami's own VRC6 tracks, those would remain just in the background, for a very light accompaniment, so that sound effects don't interfere with them so much. And well, since this isn't in a game, but an arrange, this doesn't really matter, so they got to shine as well here. Good stuff. I definitely took a while to understand where the loop begins here tho'··· I hate having to do that guesswork. But it's a great track, regardless. It does fit as an ending theme, which's why I'm timing this video for the end of the month, but funnily enough, the original track was used for the 2nd part of the 1st stage of the game. Surely not something you'd expect from a first stage. Heck, even I, after playing Touhou so much, would still get thrown off by that. Of course, it had to be Konami!
