Grocery Shopping at a Costa Rican Farmers Market

Join me for a Sunday morning at the Santa Ana Farmers Market in Costa Rica. What started as a simple grocery run for raw milk, eggs, liver, and tropical fruit, quickly turned into a reminder of why I've fallen in love with living here. Alongside my AirBNB host, Big Z, I wandered through one of Costa Rica's most vibrant weekly traditions, discovering everything from fresh pejibaye and starfruit to giant pieces of guanábana—one of my favorite fruits in the world. More than just a place to buy food, the Santa Ana Farmers Market is a celebration of color, community, craftsmanship, and abundance. Watching tortillas pressed by hand, seeing produce piled high in every color imaginable, and bringing home food grown and raised by local farmers made me appreciate something I've been slowly learning since moving to Costa Rica: When we slow down enough to notice where our food comes from, it stops feeling like a product and starts feeling like a relationship. Thanks for spending a Sunday morning with me. Pura vida. 🤙🌿 📍 Santa Ana, Costa Rica #CostaRica #FarmersMarket #LivingInCostaRica #CostaRicaLife #SlowLiving #TravelDocumentary #TropicalFruit #RawMilk #PuraVida
