RODOLFO FIERRO: EL CARNICERO MÁS BRUTAL DE LA REVOLUCIÓN — Y LA MUERTE QUE NADIE ESPERABA
RODOLFO FIERRO: THE MOST BRUTAL BUTCHER OF THE REVOLUTION — AND THE DEATH NO ONE EXPECTED He was born abandoned in a forgotten town in Sinaloa in 1880. Raised by a family that wasn't his own, he lost his wife and newborn daughter in less than a year, and he sank into alcoholism before he turned thirty. He drove the locomotive that took Pancho Villa prisoner to Mexico City without even knowing who he was. He joined the División del Norte and in a single battle jumped onto a moving federal train to stop it with gunfire. He killed for a bet in a cantina. He murdered a British citizen in front of Villa and almost sparked an international incident. He executed three hundred Orozco prisoners in a corral over two hours straight, in what Mexican literature would dub "The Feast of Bullets." He shot the educator David Berlanga for humiliating his men in a restaurant. He pursued Tomás Urbina, his own mentor, and shot him when Urbina begged for his life. He survived hundreds of battles, ambushes, betrayals, and the bullets of Celaya. And when the entire Carrancista army couldn't touch him, he drowned in a shallow lagoon in northern Chihuahua, ignoring a sign that read "Danger." Pancho Villa wept before the water and uttered a phrase that would go down in history. This is the story of Rodolfo Fierro—the abandoned railroad worker who became the most feared executioner of the entire Mexican Revolution.
