Longton Community Fire Station Open Day 2026

Went to Longton Fire Station on the 11th of July for their open day, it was another sunny and hot day when i arrived there at 8:38am (08:38). The station is home to both Wholetime and On-Call Retained with their Scania P280 EmergencyOne Rescue Pump, a Scania P320 Rosenbauer Rescue Pump and a Scania L360 Angloco Aerial Ladder. It is also said to be the busiest fire station in Staffordshire with 700+ monilisations. Three members of my Facebook group attended the open day, one of them is Lewis Orme, who is also a member of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity team who turned up with their stall and two of my friends from South Wales, Brooklyn and Iuean the Nightingale Brothers who arrived just before the station officially opened. They got fair rides, face painting, bouncy castle and inflatable climb n slide for the kids. There's other stalls like the Firefighters Charity, the Tri-Services & Veterans stall, Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership, the raffle, 6TR radio station trailer, the Recruitment, Police and Emergency Response. The Police Cadets were there as well to help out with the car parking and taking in turns being a Welephant. As for food and refreshments, the station has their own BBQ. There's also a fish and chips van, Desi Sweet Centre, Alex's Ices ice cream van, candyfloss and a coffee van. There's also demonstrations, however because of the heat we've had at Longton, they only done one demonstration, the RTC demo (Road Traffic Collision) with Blue Watch at 1pm (13:00) hosted by their Station Manager, Jon Jackson. They've also had two shouts with On-Call crew taking these calls, one to a Car Fire at 11:31am (11:31) and a second one is at 3:43pm (15:43) to a Cottage Fire. Another great day for another open day visit for me, special thanks to the Station Manager Jon Jackson with his crews Wholetime Blue Watch, On-Call Retained, the volunteers and the rest of the staff for organizing it. 👍🔥🚒
