Dartmoor MTB - Princetown to Burrator Loop

I'd wanted to ride on Dartmoor for a long time and as I had an afternoon free I took the oppertunity to ride this short 12.5 mile loop. I started in Princetown home to the famous Dartmoor prison. Its a small town with a couple of good pubs, the National trust visitor centre and an outdoors shop, and a few other shops. Notably a car park with good toilets! I headed south east out of the town and onto the moor. The first couple of miles are easy going as you head up past South Hessary Tor and on towards Nuns Cross. About 500m before Nuns Cross I turned off the main track at a cross roads and headed down towards the Burrator Resevoir, this is where the fun really started. nearly 2 and a half miles of rocky track descent all the way untill I reached the tarmac along the side of the resevoir. There were so many options of routes to ride here, you could spend a week or more and not ride them all. There's something for all abilities, I highly recomend a visit. I'll certainly be back.
