Bishop Marvin Winans' Church Project Has a Serious Problem

For nearly 20 years, Bishop Marvin Winans has promoted the vision of a massive new church project in Detroit. After years of announcements, fundraising efforts, construction updates, delays, and promises, the project has become a troubling example of what can happen when an ambitious church-building vision appears to drag on without clear completion. Original video:    • But Sin That It Might Appear Sin - Pastor ...   In this video, we examine the long history of the Perfecting Church construction project, the repeated delays surrounding it, and the serious questions that church members and the public have a right to ask. How much money has been raised over the years? Where did the money go? Why has the project remained unfinished for so long? Were members given realistic timelines and transparent financial updates? At what point does a delayed vision become evidence of poor planning, irresponsible leadership, or failed stewardship? Building a church is not automatically wrong. Churches need places to worship, serve their communities, teach Scripture, and provide ministry resources. However, when a project continues for nearly two decades while members are repeatedly encouraged to give, leadership must be willing to answer difficult questions. A pastor’s vision should never become more important than honesty, accountability, and responsible stewardship. Church members should not be expected to continue funding a project indefinitely without clear financial reporting, measurable progress, and a credible plan for completion. This situation is especially concerning because many churches place enormous spiritual pressure on members to support building campaigns. People may be told that giving toward the project demonstrates faith, obedience, sacrifice, or loyalty to the pastor’s vision. Some may give money they cannot afford to lose because they genuinely believe they are helping advance the work of God. But biblical stewardship requires more than passionate speeches and impressive architectural plans. Jesus taught people to count the cost before beginning a building project. Wise leadership should carefully evaluate the finances, resources, risks, and ability to finish before asking an entire congregation to invest in a massive undertaking. Luke 14:28–30 warns about someone beginning to build but being unable to finish, resulting in public embarrassment and criticism. That passage becomes extremely relevant when discussing a church project that has remained incomplete for approximately 20 years. This video is not about attacking Marvin Winans personally or denying his musical legacy, preaching influence, or accomplishments. The issue is whether the handling of this project reflects transparency, wisdom, financial responsibility, and biblical accountability. Church leaders should be able to clearly explain how donations were used, why construction was delayed, what obstacles occurred, how much more money is needed, and whether the original plan is still financially realistic. Members deserve more than vague promises that the building will eventually be completed. There is also a broader lesson here for churches everywhere. Too many ministries become obsessed with enormous buildings, expensive campuses, celebrity pastors, and public recognition while neglecting discipleship, local outreach, benevolence, and the spiritual health of their members. The question is not simply whether the project will eventually be completed. The deeper question is whether the entire process has honored God and respected the sacrifices of the people who helped finance it. Do you believe this project represents an unfortunate series of construction and financial setbacks, or has it become a failed church vision that should have been reconsidered years ago? Should Marvin Winans and Perfecting Church provide a full public financial accounting of the project? #MarvinWinans #PerfectingChurch #ChurchProject #ChurchAccountability #ChurchFinances #Stewardship #ChristianCommentary #ChurchLeadership #DetroitChurch #AllThingsTheology Software I use (Ecamm) Sign up with this link: https://www.ecamm.com/mac/ecammlive/?...
