Cycling the world (Days 1634-1644) Chile: Carretera Austral - Puerto Montt to Queulat National Park
The fabled Carretera Austral begins with 230 miles of a wet wonderland! We rode through the Pumilin National Park, created by the largest land donation in the world by Pete Tompkins of North Face. We see rare trees and cross fjords on ferries. We may be rain soaked but it doesn't detract from the beauty of the landscape. Then disaster, a major tyre crisis and an overzealous bank leaves us penniless and two unusable bikes! We are so close to seeing some amazing glaciers too!
