MARKO KOZHUSHNY (1904–1937) (full name - Marko Prokopovich Kozhushny) - Ukrainian poet-songwriter and journalist. A representative of the generation of "Shooted Renaissance" and a victim of Stalinist repressions. Born on May 8, 1904 in the village of Denysivka in the Poltava region. His native village was a significant cultural center thanks to the philosopher Volodymyr Lesevich, who in 1864 founded the first school with Ukrainian as the language of instruction there. Upbringing in such an environment with a high level of national consciousness contributed to the integration of the future poet into the Ukrainian literary process. Later, he graduated from the Artem Communist University in Kharkiv. He began his creative activity in 1923. He worked in the editorial offices of Kharkiv periodicals of an agrarian orientation: the newspaper "Naymyt" and the magazine "Silskohospodarskyi proletar". In his work, Kozhushny actively worked within the ideological paradigm of the time, creating poetry on revolutionary themes dedicated to the Bolshevik party and socio-political changes. He published his poems and stories in the magazines "Young Bolshevik", "Student of Revolution" and the newspaper "Komsomolets of Ukraine", and in 1925 he published a separate story "Komsomolka Zoya". Since 1926 he was a member of the All-Ukrainian Union of Komsomol Writers "Molodnyak". His lyrics were characterized by the sincerity of artistic expression and the pathos of innovation; he became the author of such songs of communist ideals as "Our Union is Young...", "Village Communards", "I", etc. In 1937, during the mass operations of the NKVD of the USSR against the Ukrainian intelligentsia, the writer was arrested. Mark Kozhushny's life ended in October 1937 in Kyiv while under investigation, although official documents often list him as executed. He was rehabilitated posthumously in 1959 due to lack of evidence of a crime.
