Today is Sunday, so I took a trip to Long Bien – the biggest wholesale market in Hanoi, Vietnam. This market is located right under a vintage bridge, and it's always bustling with people, motorbikes, and even trains passing right above our heads! Living on a tight budget for a family of four means I have to calculate every single penny. Today, I bought 20 eggs for about $2.20 and a cabbage for just 50 cents. I had to choose "fainted" shrimp because they are much cheaper than live ones, and I completely avoid expensive seafood like squid or mackerel. At the end of the trip, I saw some delicious avocados and really wanted to buy them for my kids... but when I heard the price, I had to walk away.
