Egesheim (D - BW) Die Glocken der Pfarrkirche Mariä Himmelfahrt

This video presents the bells d♭1- e♭1- g♭1- a♭1- d♭2 [re♭3- mi♭3- sol♭3- la♭3- si♭3- re♭4] of ST. Mary's church in Egesheim, Southern Germany. ➥ The oldest bell in Egesheim [2] dates from 1737. It was cast by the Rosenlächer bell foundry in Constance in a light shape and was the only one to survive the conscriptions of the two World Wars. New bells were cast in 1950. The bell foundry Grüninger produced two new instruments [3+4]. They rang together with the historic bell in an old belfry. It is not clear whether the set-down bell [VII] was part of the ringing at that time. At the beginning of the 1970s, there was a wish to extend the ringing. The three bells no longer seemed quite adequate. So the Bachert foundry in Heilbronn was commissioned to extend the peal. Three new bells [1+5+6] were cast in 1975 in the middle but progressive shape. The old belfry was removed and a steel installation typical of the time was built. The other bell [VII] was not included. Thus, one of the largest peals in this region rings out in Egesheim today. Due to the three different founders, it has a special charisma. An impressive effect develops in front of the church. The large bell, which hangs directly at the height of the sound windows, dominates the ringing from most positions at will.
