Resolute Mining Chief Executive arrested in Mali
Malian government officials have detained three employees from the ASX-listed gold producer Resolute Mining, including its chief executive, Terry Holohan. Resolute told the stock market this morning that the executives were in the West African nation’s capital city, Bamako, holding discussions with the mining and tax authorities. Media reports suggest Mr Holohan and his two other employees were being questioned over providing false evidence and misappropriation of public goods, allegations they denied. The company said they were detained on Friday, November 8th after the meetings concluded. Sydney Mining Club Chairman Julian Malnic, who has previously been detained in Africa, joined Sky News business reporter Eboyd to discuss the situation.
