Polskie skrzydła lat'90. PZL SW-4 Puszczyk

#aviation #poland #1990s #history #helicopter One of the few successful Polish aviation projects from the 1990s is the SW-4 Puszczyk helicopter. Despite numerous financial problems, the project was completed and is currently used by the Polish Air Force for helicopter pilot training in Dęblin. Unfortunately, this doesn't mean it's a very good design, as criticism of the SW-4's purchase and the project itself is frequently voiced. Unfortunately, I haven't flown the SW-4 and haven't had the opportunity to speak with anyone knowledgeable on the subject. Therefore, regarding the SW-4's shortcomings, I can only rely on press materials and the public opinion of Brigadier General Tomasz Drewnianak. However, in his case, due to his non-military commentary activities, I have some doubts. In any case, the SW-4 is also in use outside of Poland, with attempts to assemble it, among others, in Poland. In... China, where three or even four helicopters were reportedly "illegally" built. What's more, the "Puszczyk" became a platform for building a remotely controlled helicopter used for contamination detection, assessing the effects of natural disasters, and the like. Whether this proves to be a benefit or a detriment to the design itself is up to you to decide. And if you like what I do, I encourage you to buy me a virtual coffee: buycoffee.to/balszoi
