Hipermobilidade, como tratar ?

Episode 32 Joint hypermobility syndrome is a set of frequent signs and symptoms in which the joints have a wider range of motion (greater amplitude), generally without any other associated disease. Pain is a common complaint in these patients. Some studies show that patients with increased range of motion are subject to a higher incidence of pain around the joints and inflammatory processes in the tendons (tendinitis). Treatment for hypermobility is based on strengthening the muscles, taking care not to overload the hypermobile joints, and providing guidance. What needs to be clear to these patients, at least to the vast majority, who have altered joint proprioception and lower muscle tone, is that, due to these characteristics, they cannot progress in training because they have not been properly guided. Strength training is fundamental, but with some precautions, as I mentioned. The main precaution is precisely not to stimulate wide movements with load. This patient already has above-average joint mobility; what is lacking is muscle control. This control must be built gradually and with a lot of patience. Therefore, the training process must respect this rule: exercises should have smaller ranges of motion with weight, and as the patient gains control, the ranges of motion and loads will increase. Management of pain and inflammation, if present, should, whenever possible, not be done with medication, but rather with physiotherapy and guidance. Each case must be evaluated, taking into account clinical complaints and physical examination findings.
