THIS FILIPINO FAMILY CAME TO MY RESCUE! Simon, an artist from Malaybalay, Bukidnon, invited me to camp in their family home when the hotels were fully booked! This is part 2 of my Bukidnon trip - from Lantapan, I rode fairly quickly through Talakag, Baungon and Libuna to Manolo Fortich. Manolo had a few attractions, though others weren't available, and it was a nice highland adventure there. Then I met Sangkay, an artist who had made a painting of me! Then I went to Sumilao and climbed Mount Palaopao, the bald mountain - its rocky outcrops are not very fertile so trees struggle to grow. And it holds an interesting story; the cave at its back was once home to the Jesuits of Xavier University (Cagayan de Oro) who took refuge there with all of their books during WW2!
