Why Do I Do This To Myself? Appalachian Trail in the Smokies
Spent six days hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains. Covers miles 167-240 of the Appalachian Trail. Between the steep climbs, cold weather, and miles of trail, it definitely wasn’t easy, but the views made it worth it. Along the way I ran into some trail magic, passed a few shelters, and caught some early spring flowers starting to show up. I made my way up to Kuwohi (formerly Clingmans Dome), and despite being steeped in tourism, it delivered. If you’ve ever pushed through a tough hike and wondered why you do this to yourself, you’ll probably relate to this one. This is part of a documentary series, One More Step, in which I'm hiking the Appalachian Trail in partnership with Mission 22 to raise money and awareness to prevent veteran suicide. https://donate.mission22.org/campaign... #appalachiantrail #thruhike #smokymountains
