I Got Norovirus on the Appalachian Trail

Miles 344–450 on the Appalachian Trail. This stretch had a little bit of everything… and not the good kind. After pushing north out of Erwin, TN, I ran into some rain, long climbs, and one of the most sobering stops on the trail, the resting place of hermit Nick Grindstaff. Not long after, things took a turn when I came down with norovirus. I ended up spending a few planned days off trail with my mom in Bristol, TN - a much needed reset before getting back out there. Somewhere in the middle of all that: shelters, trail magic, and a stay at Black Bear Resort, a reminder of how strong the AT community really is, even on the rough days. This stretch wasn’t about big views or easy miles. It was about getting through it. Next stop: Damascus, VA. This video is part of a documentary series, One More Step, a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness and support for veteran suicide prevention in partnership with Mission 22. https://donate.mission22.org/campaign... #AppalachianTrail #ThruHike #Nature #AT2026 #HikingLife
