When the baby was born, she passed all her tests except her bilirubin. Her bilirubin levels were moderate to high risk, and they wanted to monitor her for a couple of days to ensure she would be okay. After 2 days, they decided to give her phototherapy that involved shining blue fluorescent light on her bare skin. When we first started the treatment Charlotte, and I kept it together for the most part. But, after watching the baby under the lights for hours, our concern for her grew because it seemed like this happening to us was another undesirable addition to an already tough pregnancy and delivery. It was hard to sit and watch Charlotte go through this and watch the baby in a position I wasn't familiar with from my experience with Maddie and Lucca's post-delivery. There were nights I had trouble sleeping, and I would watch Charlotte and the baby, trying to figure out what I could do to make this right. I realized there was nothing I could do but let God do his thing and clear the baby of this bilirubin. But, although I knew there was nothing I could do now...
