The Minister of Health, Mónica García, expressed her regret in an interview with RTVE's 24-hour news channel that the medical unions CESM and SMA "have walked away from the negotiating table" for the reform of the Framework Statute and are instead opting "for a more confrontational approach." García expressed her confidence in being able to "reach a consensus text that incorporates all the improvements already included" in the preliminary agreement signed with other unions. Regarding the demand for a specific medical statute that recognizes their working conditions, training, and level of responsibility, García asserted that "this specific statute is already incorporated into the statute for all professionals" and that all their demands are included in "a separate chapter for the medical profession." The State Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM) and the Andalusian Medical Union (SMA) have rejected the preliminary agreement between the Ministry of Health and several unions to reform the Framework Statute for healthcare professionals. The doctors have abandoned negotiations and announced they will continue their protests.
