Today we're taking a look at one of Switzerland's two main railway alpine crossings - both of which have received a base tunnel during the past 2 decades. The Gotthard route opened in 1882, the Lötschberg line we're looking at here in 1913. The Lötschberg however beat he Gotthard railway by being electrified from the start, while the Gotthard was only fully electrified by 1922. It's with great pleasure that we present to you the first 4K video on youtube of the line Basel - Brig. This version includes a rear view camera, simulating what it would be like to put your head out the window and look back. We're travelling in two of Switzerland's most powerul operational locomotives (Re 6/6) and pulling a train loaded with new cars.
