Stephen "The Great" was a ruler of the Principality of Moldavia who focused his reign on fighting the Ottoman Empire, in addition to a series of conflicts with the kingdoms of Poland and Hungary, although he would also be a vassal of these kingdoms on several occasions. This prince sought to form an anti-Ottoman league, attempting to gain the support of other Christian kingdoms, principalities, and states. Nevertheless, he managed to achieve important victories over the Turks, which were considered strokes of luck and were seen in his time as acts of God. Stephen managed to establish Moldavia among the most notable European powers of his time. His principality also experienced a significant cultural flourishing and social changes during his reign.
