LIRR DM30AC + C3 consist to Port Jefferson at Stony Brook Station

In this video, we see the 7:07 PM train to Port Jefferson, Train 664, arrive at Stony Brook Station, dwell at the station to allow passengers to disembark, and then depart eastward, with Port Jefferson as its last stop. The train arrived six minutes late, using a Long Island Railroad C3 Bilevel + DM30AC consist. The consist had leading engine 508, trailing engine 509, and seven C3 cars 4084, 4122, 4039, 4020, 4033, 4079 and 4043. During peak hours, Port Jefferson trains use dual-mode engines, feature more train cars, and originate from points closer to Manhattan and Queens. They also run express through most of Queens and Nassau County. Context on the LIRR Double-Decker trains: This was a 7-car train with two engines, one in the front and one in the back. The 4000s-series cars are C3 coach cars, and 508/509 are EMD DM30AC Dual Mode [Diesel/Electric] engines. The DE/DM30ACs and C3s were delivered in 1999 to retire the Long Island Railroad's single-decker P72 and P75 coach cars, as well as the MP15s, GP38-2s, and Alco Powerpacks which carried them. I find the C3 cars quite fascinating and fun to experience in person. Taken on 5/21/2026. Please subscribe and stay blessed!
