Lost Resorts of The Redwood Highway & the Abandoned Bridge

ROAD TRIP! Much like old Route 66, The Redwood Highway, US-101, was covered with Epic Roadside Attractions, old Auto Courts, Motels, Historic sites, Abandoned buildings, old filling stations, and so much more! California's Redwood highway travels through the far northern part of the state, North of San Francisco and up to the Oregon border. On this stretch, We start in Laytonville, California, move our way up through Leggett, and explore amazing old Stage Stops, Abandoned Resorts, Forgotten Auto Camps, and more! Everything from the Irvine Resort turned rest area, to the ghost roads, to the Chandelier tree's original neighbor! We see abandoned social halls, the shadows of Roadside history and abandoned roadside attractions, and finally see Giant old-growth redwood trees - Not just see but drive and WALK through three of them! This is only one part of many Redwood Highway Adventures - each different! There are some amazing Roadside attractions, natural scenes, and historic then-and-now adventures ahead! While there are far less Redwood Highway travelers than Route 66 travelers, it contains much of the same kind of history and architecture, as well as having the added bonus of the world's tallest living thing, the California GIANT Redwoods. Although there are eco-tourists, crusty hippies, and family road trippers passing through, Hopefully these videos will encourage more "Route 66 style" Historic road travelers to take up the redwood highway challenge. The more visitors who ask these places about their history, leave tips and suggestions for old motels and businesses to embrace their history, etc etc, the more often these old highways preserve and restore that history.
