101st Airborne Museum - Bastogne, Belgium

80th anniversary of D-Day & Battle of the Bulge. Siege of Bastogne. In the footsteps of Company E, 101st Airborne Division. The 101st Airborne Museum in Bastogne is housed in the former officers' mess of the Belgian Army. It is dedicated to the memory of the 101st Airborne Division, whose defence of Bastogne during the German offensive in the Ardennes in December 1944 was pivotal. It has a large collection of original exhibits, including uniforms, weapons, parachuting equipment and soldiers' personal items. Hundreds of parachutes hang from the walls and ceilings, creating a unique atmosphere. It pays tribute to the courage and dedication of the soldiers, particularly in the context of the dramatic Battle of Bastogne, one of the most significant events of the Battle of the Bulge. Visitors can experience a simulation of the city being bombed and view exhibitions on notable figures and events, including the renowned veteran Vincent Speranza, who is commemorated by a special statue in the museum. The museum is a valuable source of knowledge and reflection on World War II and the legend of the 101st Airborne Division.
