Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway- engineers are working simultaneously on two critical streams of work
In Kabwe, Central Province, engineers are working simultaneously on two critical streams of work as construction advances on the Lusaka-Ndola Dual Carriageway. Road construction teams are removing the existing carriageway all the way down to the base, rebuilding it layer by layer with new materials engineered to carry heavy freight traffic for decades. At the same time, water infrastructure teams are underground replacing old pipes before the road above is permanently sealed. Once the new pavement is laid to its final asphalt standard, there will be no coming back to dig up a completed road for utility works. Everything beneath the surface is being addressed now, within the same construction window, on the same schedule. Water supply in parts of Kabwe may be temporarily affected as these works progress. That is a short-term disruption being managed so that the long-term outcome is permanent. A completely rebuilt carriageway above. Completely replaced water infrastructure beneath it. Engineers are working to keep both streams on schedule as the project advances toward its completion target.
