We travel through Bahia showing cities you may never have heard of. This week we travel to CANDIBA. History Its origin stems from a "mocambo"[6], formed by slaves who escaped from farms in the region, such as Santa Rosa, Rodrigues Lima, Mulungu and Canabrava. The Portuguese priest Francisco Moreira dos Santos settled in the Mocambo in 1834, where he built his house and a church, carrying out the catechization of the settlement there. Its territory originally belonged to Vila Nova do Príncipe and Santana de Caetité, then to Palmas de Monte Alto and, in 1920, with the emancipation of Guanambi, it became a district of the latter, already with the name Candiba. Through State Law No. 1,756, of July 27, 1962, it became independent from Guanambi. Established on April 7, 1963, with the inauguration of the council members and the first elected mayor, Tertuliano Joaquim Neto.
