Newport Workshops Open Days 2026 Steamrail Part 2 - Into the Workshops, Model Railways, Photo Line-ups & the Railway Museum Hello all, Welcome to another Victorian heritage railways video. Today we return with part 2 of our series covering the Newport Workshops Open Weekend over the Labour Day long weekend. The event is run bi-annually and opens up the base of Victoria's heritage rail operations with Steamrail, 707 Operations and DERMPAV sharing the workshops. The weekend saw over 11 locomotives in steam, along with a couple of visitors to Newport, these being K160 from the VGR on its home stretch to a full overhaul and Klondyke from the Bellarine Railway. In this part we take a gander through the workshops, looking at the model railway layouts that are on display from the Sunbury Model Railway Club and the Australian Model Railway Association. Then we head down to the photo line to see both of the line-ups on Sunday. We finish off the video with a quick look at the Newport Railway Museum, which was open for extra hours for the Open Weekend.
