In this chapter of our motorcycle trip through South America, we left Trujillo heading towards Caraz, never imagining that the GPS would lead us directly into Cañón del Pato (Duck Canyon), one of the most impressive and demanding routes in Peru. We went from the absolute desert to a road carved into the rock, with tunnels, abysses, rushing rivers, and curves where a loaded motorcycle feels pushed to its limits. All without having planned it. Cañón del Pato is famous for its more than 30 tunnels, its narrow roads, and for being a key route between the coast and the Peruvian highlands. In this video, we show you what it's like to travel it on a high-displacement motorcycle, with a passenger, luggage, and under the pressure of rain and accumulated fatigue.
