After graduating from his hometown of Matsusaka Technical High School, he began his carpentry apprenticeship at Ishida Construction at his father's suggestion. At the age of 28, he completed his first roof raising project as the master carpenter, becoming the seventh generation master carpenter of Kitayama Construction. At age 34, he transitioned from the family business to a corporation, founding Kitayama Construction Co., Ltd. on May 21, 2001.
