RESTAURATION DAUPHINE 1961 : Soulagement ! Le longeron est sauvé (Ép. 13)

I can finally breathe a sigh of relief! After the huge scare of episode 12, when I thought the frame rail was damaged, the verdict is in: it was "only" the end plate that had crumbled. The frame rail itself is sound! On the agenda for this episode 13: Custom forming: As I remain a passionate amateur, I'm fabricating the new end plate myself so that it fits the Dauphine's structure perfectly. The autopsy: I'm finishing the clean removal of the rotten areas to get a clear view. Welding: Fitting and tack welding the new piece to restore the frame rail's strength. It's meticulous work that requires time and patience. Tell me in the comments: What do you use to protect the inside of hollow sections before permanently sealing a plate of this type?
