NEW AYANEO Pocket Micro Classic: Endgame GBA, but at What Cost?

👉Stubbs dives in and gives his first impressions of the Pocket Micro Classic, sent for review from AYANEO. While this is simply the Pocket Micro without sticks and $20 less, it now has a much improved focus on what it does best...incredible looking GBA (but at a premium price of $180 - $230)! Is it worth the cost? The AYANEO Pocket Micro Classic is a compact Gameboy Advance Micro inspired handheld with a 3.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, available in configurations of 6GB or 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Classic eliminates joysticks in favor of a tactile directional pad and split L1/L2 and R1/R2 shoulder buttons. It includes an active cooling fan (not working on this pre-production unit), an X-axis linear motor for haptic feedback, a six-axis gyroscope, and supports dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. Connectivity options include a USB Type-C port with OTG support, a USB 2.0 OTG port, and a microSD card slot for expandable storage. The handheld weighs 227 grams and measures 156mm x 63mm x 18mm.
