Le campane della Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta della Tomba ad Adria (RO)

The history of the Italian city began 3200 years ago, when the barbarians chose to live between the river and the sea. The place was inherited by the Etruscans, who built the first port, while the ancient Greeks called this place Adria, a name derived from ancient languages to indicate daylight. Christianity arrived in the 2nd century brought by the bishop of Ravenna and became so important that the first church was raised to the status of cathedral of the new diocese. The first church is the one filmed in this video, although in the 9th century the bishop's seat was moved one kilometre away. The beautiful building was remodelled in the 17th century in the Baroque style. e' - f' sharp - g' sharp - a' - b' - c'' sharp - d'' sharp - e'' The temple was restored in the 20th century to the design of a Venetian architect, who demolished the ancient Romanesque tower to make room for the new bell tower built imitating the shape of that of St Mark's Basilica. The building was erected on the foundations of the squat 14th century tower, which rested on the ancient Roman lighthouse in the Adriatic Sea. The new bell tower was equipped with a prestigious concert of eight bells, cast in Bologna in 1931 following the musical scale of E major. Three of the eight bells were removed from the tower during World War II, requisitioned by the state that needed bronze. In 1948, the same foundry delivered three new bells to the church, paid for as war damage. The eight bells ring together, operated by an organist friend of mine from the city who invited us for two days in these beautiful lands. Despite the great sultry heat, we had a good time and got to know new churches and new friends. The first church called the Tomb was built in the 6th century and still preserves an exceptional baptismal font from the 7th century, one of the oldest Christian works in the world still perfectly original in marble. The earliest known church is from the 13th century, consecrated by the bishop. In the late 17th century, the church was enlarged and in the 18th century completed with the magnificent Baroque façade. The church dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption was built next to Roman tombs and on the remains of a pagan temple. #bell #church #catholic #italy #bells #city #documentary #music #history #landscape #catholicchurch #cinematic
