1000 Miles into the PCT — Civilization Feels Wrong

I expected the wilderness to feel normal. What I didn't expect was for civilization to start feeling strange. In this Side Quest, I reach the 1,000-mile mark, experience the chaos of Kennedy Meadows North, explore Sonora Pass, resupply in Strawberry and Pinecrest, and continue north through some of Northern California's most beautiful terrain. After months of walking through remote wilderness, being surrounded by crowds, noise, and constant activity felt surprisingly overwhelming. This stretch of trail forced me to confront a side of thru-hiking I hadn't really considered before: the way long-distance hiking slowly changes you. If you enjoy cinematic backpacking films, thru-hiking documentaries, wilderness philosophy, and honest trail storytelling, subscribe and come along for the next Side Quest ❤️ #PCT #PacificCrestTrail #ThruHiking I use the app MapDirector to create satellite maps with GPS and metadata I sync from my Garmin watch daily on trail, complete with pins showing the spots I found most photogenic!
