Tyrol withdraws increased family allowance In Tyrol, many people with disabilities living in nursing homes are financially worse off than in other Austrian states. The state of Tyrol is not paying the increased family allowance to recipients who were granted this money for increased expenses. Most recently, the Supreme Court ruled this practice in Carinthia unlawful. Tyrol is nevertheless sticking to its policy, arguing that "the ruling concerning Carinthia cannot be applied to the situation in Tyrol because the benefits package in nursing homes is not comparable." The "Citizens' Advocate" investigated what this Tyrolean special approach means for those affected, who sometimes don't know how they will afford clothing, shoes, or haircuts. The "Monday Car" - An Inquiry Günter and Manuela F. from Lower Austria were deeply disappointed with their newly purchased Alfa Romeo Tonale. They paid around €38,000 for the demonstrator model. Shortly after the purchase, the first repairs were necessary, and eventually, the engine was replaced. Nothing helped; the car was a proverbial "lemon," constantly in the repair shop. The couple wanted to rescind the purchase because they had lost confidence in its roadworthiness. The car dealer saw things differently, and the case had already gone to court. Could an out-of-court settlement now be reached?
