Why Self Improvement Matters - The Story Of Baby Sparrow

Would you like to spend more time outdoors, watching nature and looking for insights and lessons to take away and utilise? In this video I explain how I became interested in making my garden become a place where wild garden birds would want to come and bathe, drink and eat so that I could enjoy their presence. I talk about how I noticed that observing these birds living out their lives led me to become more grateful and philosophical and to extract helpful lessons from the things that I observed from my interactions with the birds. This video is part of a new playlist which is called Lessons From Nature which I hope might encourage viewers to spend more time outdoors observing the natural world and learning lessons from the experience. In this video I also tell the story of a bird I called 'baby sparrow' - a young sparrow who stood out to me because its behaviour was unusual. I talk about how I found something in common with this sparrow (as a youngester it wasn't adequately prepared for the challenges of life) and ultimately tried to learn lessons from the experience. Sadly baby sparrow wasn't around for long - but nature does what nature does and therein lies one of the key lessons. Although I tried to make my garden a place of relative safety for visiting birds, I learnt that birds can never be complacent and those that are ill-equipped aren't around for long. So I decided to think about the lessons this has taught me and to share them in this video. 00:00 Intro 00:57 A Dog-Shaped Hole In Our Hearts 01:39 How I Started Befriending Wild Birds 06:27 Birds Make Me Feel Humble And Grateful 08:00 Lessons From David Attenborough And Ray Mears 11:10 The Story Of Baby Sparrow 16:11 Finding The Lessons 17:36 We Had Something In Common 19:00 More Lessons
