Making an 1880s Bustle Skirt || A Historical Sewing Vlog

While I am fully aware that I did say only just a few videos ago that I am not an 1880s person and to not expect 1880s clothing on this channel, I was invited to attend an 1880s dinner and dance with my fiancée and... well, here we are. We're doing this in segments mostly because my early and mid 1800s brain doesn't function well on late Victorian stuff and it takes me a while to sew each piece. And by 'a while' I mean it took me 2 days to sew this skirt as opposed to the 5 hours it takes me to do a mid century dress. So we're starting with just the skirt. The skirt is an olive green silk voile, lined in bright green cotton to make the silk a bit more colorful, trimmed with a hem ruffle and some ivory silk ribbon. Next month we'll make the apron and train! Follow me on Instagram:   / a.time.in.history   #livinghistory, #victorian, #fashion, #historicalfashion, #victorianfashion, #19thcentury
