Vertical Aerospace VX-4 Test flight at Kemble Cotswold Airport

Vertical Aerospace is a British aircraft manufacturer focused on developing electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for future urban and regional air mobility. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Bristol, England, the company aims to provide a cleaner, quieter, and more efficient alternative to traditional helicopters for short-distance travel. The company's flagship aircraft, the Vertical Aerospace VX4, is a four-passenger eVTOL designed for both piloted and, eventually, autonomous operations. Powered entirely by electric motors, the VX4 can take off and land vertically like a helicopter before transitioning into efficient wing-borne flight. The aircraft is expected to have a range of approximately 100 miles (160 km), a cruising speed of around 150 mph (240 km/h), and significantly lower noise levels than conventional helicopters, making it well suited for operations near cities and populated areas. We saw the VX-4 earlier at RIAT 2025, but with a conventional aircraft take off. This time however, we see VX-4 take off like a drone/helicopter and slowly pace forward hovering over the runway.
