Talyllyn Railway - Talyllyn Originals (DBLM Steam)

#TalyllynRailway #NarrowGaugeSteam Two very special steam locomotives at work, in daily use on the Talyllyn Railway in Mid-Wales. Probably the oldest two working steam locomotives in the world(?) - with Talyllyn built in 1864 and Dolgoch from 1866. I tried to capture scenes that reminded me of when I knew the TR so well (1965-1986) - I thought the choice of black and white would be helpful in re-creating an image of forty years ago and blur some of the current liveries to create a more neutral appearance. There is a massive contrast between fiercely-barking standard gauge locos storming steep gradients (in days when we don't have fire-risk situations) and the gentle sound of these two superbly restored machines carefully treading the path they have made their own for almost 160 years! I've tried to capture the scenery, the almost totally rural landscape - the echoing whistles in the Fathew Valley, the careful handling of the locomotives and the overall atmosphere of this very special line - the one that paved the way for all the preserved lines and almost all of the locomotives that were saved when their time was up. (For those not approving of the black and white, four of the sequences are repeated in colour at the end of the video). Filmed on Saturday 9th August 2025 - services operated by locos 1, 2 and 4. Thank you for viewing what happens to be my 300th video(since 2018). There is a link at the very end of the video(top left of the final frame) to the DBLM Steam Complete Playlist (and a link directly below). And please feel very welcome to leave a comment!    • DBLM Steam
