Churnet Valley Railway - USA 2-8-0 5197 (DBLM Steam)

#ChurnetValleyRailway #USA5197 Proper steam! A slow-speed 'bark' up the 1/40 gradient with a heavy train - with a background orchestra of springtime bird song. A short 90 second version, at the start, for those more used to TikTok and Youtube shorts - followed by the real-time capture, over five minutes, from distant wheel slip until all bird sound gives way to the passing train. (When you've trekked over a mile to such a wonderful location it seems so unjust to edit down to the noisiest 90 seconds!). This was the 1030 train on Wednesday 8th April (a glorious spring day that merged into a warm summer's afternoon). The second train (the 1330hrs) is also featured (between Bradnop and Apesford crossing) - running considerably late after what appeared to be several unscheduled stops - I'm guessing poor steaming or poor coal being the reason. This has become my current favourite preserved railway - and the only way to see why is to actually visit and travel! Check the CVR website for timetable, booking and days of operation. Thank you for viewing! And please feel very welcome to leave a comment. There is a link to the DBLM Steam Complete Playlist at the very end of the video and immediately below.    • DBLM Steam
