MIDLAND PULLMAN to MINEHEAD + EMERGENCY STOP at Bishops Lydeard! Don’t forget THE GUARD!

The first run along the West Somerset Railway to Minehead for the luxury Midland Pullman HST set today, working the 1Z71 ‘Exmoor Coast Pullman, through from Chesterfield. 43055 + 43046 'Geoff Drury 1930-1999 Steam Preservation and Computerised Track Recording Pioneer' were in charge. We first see the luxury set arriving early into Bishops Lydeard, allowing a short leg stretch for passengers, while the steam service headed in top and tailed by Mogul 9351 and 7812 ‘Erlestoke Manor’. Steam was only working between Bishops Lydeard and Watchet today hence the top and tail working, and once the token was exchanged, the train headed onto Minehead… well almost, as they nearly forgot the guard, so had to perform an EMERGENCY STOP! Once he was safely aboard they were off on the preserved line, and we catch the consist again passing through Blue Anchor having wound its way through the Somerset countryside. We then find the train being serviced at Minehead in preparation for the return 1Z72 run to Chesterfield, before taking one last look at the Pullman as it heads through Bishops Lydeard back towards the mainline as the GWR steam locomotives simultaneously depart with the 16.40 to Watchet!
