Rail CHAOS but still plenty of Variety at Carlisle: Tangmere, RailAdventure and More 11 June 2026

Thursday 11th June at Carlisle and the railway had to cope with a couple of issues causing some chaos. All this and two charters, with Tangmere on The Dalesman from Chester over the Settle Carlisle line and with a short HST powered by a pair of RailAdventure class 43 power cars. The first issue in the morning was a points failure at Petteril Bridge Junction, causing delays on the Newcastle line as well as for a few Leeds trains. Then in the afternoon the loco hauling the northbound Tesco intermodal failed whilst climbing Beattock bank, delaying northbound Avanti and TransPennine trains. And while that was going on a Pendolino failed trying to leave northbound from Platform 3. It would be removed later in the evening by a Thunderbird - but I'm making a separate video on that.
