The West Somerset Railway - Spring Steam Gala (2023)

The West Somerset spring gala for 2023 would see three visiting engines head to line and the overall theme would be a Great Western one. 2999 'Lady Of Legend' courtesy of the Didcot Railway Centre was billed as the main guest, this would feature alongside Great Western Manor Class 7812 'Erlestoke Manor' from the Severn Valley Railway and with a late change the Severn Valley Railway, again, came to rescue and sent over 34027 'Taw Valley' to substitute for unavailable 4953 Pitchford Hall. The homefleet were almost in full attendance with 7828 'Odney Manor' in steam and it would be paired up with 7812 for plenty of double headed manor action. It was also touch and go for GWR pannier Tank 9466 which had just made it in time after ongoing repairs. The final two homefleet locos on show were GWR Large Prairie 5199 in an interesting shade of green ! and not forgetting West Somerset's mogul 9351. Unfortunately repairs on 7822 had over ran and Foxcote Manor would be unavailable. The action is shot mostly on Friday and with a bit on Saturday whilst travelling the trains with fellow Youtubers, Bob Masterman & Sykarost ! A great time was had and even the weather played ball, which provided some lovely spring conditions at certain times. Thanks to the WSR and all concerned for providing a great couple of days.
