*Growly* Stagecoach South East 48210 YJ74CYW Optare Solo SR on route 8

Here we see Stagecoach South East 48210 YJ74CYW, an Optare Solo SR. This is one of the last Optare Solo SRs made, being registered in January 2025, a few months before the last Optare Solo SR was registered. The late 2023 to 2025 Diesel Optare Solo SRs were manufactured after a hiatus in their development, with Switch focusing on zero emission development, before restarting development on the Optare Solo SR from October 2023 to 2025. This SR utilises a Cummins 4.5L engine, combined with an Allison gearbox. The engine sounds almost identical to the 25 Enviro 200MMCs we have at Metrobus, but those are Voith, meaning the Allison gearbox gave me a different sound to accompany the Cummins engine. If I had to be honest, this Solo did sound a bit growly. With 2025 being the final year for Solos, it is rather sad to say goodbye to this iconic bus, which had lasted 27 years in production.
