A car accident on BR-251 in Salinas, Minas Gerais, resulted in the death of six members of the Cavalcanti family. Their car collided with a truck in the early morning hours while they were traveling to Nova Canaã, Bahia. The tragedy occurred when the family's car collided head-on with a truck. Initially blamed for the accident, the truck driver claimed that José Ribamar, Geyse's father, had crossed into the oncoming lane. However, expert reports and videos obtained by local residents indicate that the truck driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel and caused the accident. In the vehicle were José Ribamar (49 years old), Cintia (39), Solange (59), and their children Julia (15), Isaac (10), and Murilo (5). All died instantly, along with the family dog. Geyse received news of the accident while at home. She contested the initial allegations against her father after evidence indicated that the truck driver crossed into the oncoming lane. In a conversation with the truck driver, she expressed outrage at the lack of contact or apology, stating: "You crashed. You dragged my whole family down. You took everything I had." The case is still under investigation to determine definitive responsibility for the exact cause of the road accident.
