SRI LANKA BROMPTON BIKEPACKING 2026 DAY 10

Sri Lanka Bikepacking 2026 Day 10 The last day of ride. Matara to Galle. 45km. Across the beachfront and all flat terrain. One of the most beautiful segments throughout this whole trip. After a nice breakfast, we set off in a slow pace into the morning breeze that slowly developed into a full blast heat once again. We passed by a few notable small places, namely Mirissa and its parrot rock, the whale watching port with all the ships and boats. Next was Weligama, with all its very luxurious resorts. Midigama and Ahangama were filled with surf classes and all the surf activities at the side. Koggala was filled with interesting designed resorts as well and all looked really extravagant in their own way. Stopped by a turtle hatchery as Hadaraduwa. Lunch was just a couple of kilometres ahead at Wild and Sage at Unawatuna. It was a beautiful place, a small cafe/restaurant cum bookstore. Great thing that it had air conditioning and the vibe was just very nice. Reminded me a lot of Kathmandu/Pokhara. Next was left with 6km to Galle. Beautiful segment and it became really busy approaching the city. Rode past the cricket stadium and into the fort area. We went to Sunset Fort Hotel and checked in. After a nice shower, I walked to the train station to check out the train service from Galle to Colombo. But with our bicycles, it became quite a confusing charade. Anyways, we decided to use a van instead for tomorrow’s trip to Colombo. Evening walk around the fort was blessed with such wonderful views and ended with a magnificent sunset. Dinner was at Moi and it was really nice. Souvenir hunting was next and it was time to say goodnight. Colombo tomorrow. And flight back. I thank God that we all finished this ride in one piece. I said a prayer every morning as we started the ride, mentioning that all of us will be in good state of health and fitness, that the bicycle will be in its top condition, and that no evil or harm shall come upon us, and that we will find favor with everyone that we come across during the ride. Some days were not easy but we aced through every challenge, akin to life’s ups and downs. Thanks to everyone in the team for the company and friendship.
