SRI LANKA BROMPTON BIKEPACKING 2026 DAY 1

KCH-KL-CMB via Malaysia Airlines. A good day to escape the hustle and start our long planned trip to Sri Lanka. All of our first time to this country. With an anticipation so great, we embarked gleefully with an expectation to find adventure, laughter, and most of all, enjoy each other’s companies. We stayed at Anne’s Transit Hotel & Villa, just 3.0km away from the airport due to our late arrival past midnight. Next day, we had a nice breakfast at Coffee Boss which is nearby, and then went towards Dambulla to visit the UNESCO site Dambulla Cave Temples. It was followed by a short ride to Sigiriya and we stayed at Sigiriya SunShine Villa. The pool there was the highlight. Managed to get up to Pidurangala Rock prior to sunset but due to a cloudy day, we didn’t get the ‘golden hour’ kind of sunset. Nevertheless, it was a surreal experience and my, that rock was huge! We then went down before it got really dark and it started to rain. Dinner was at the villa itself as it was raining. Apparently that was the only rain we experienced on our whole trip there. Haha.
