SummerStrong 19: Nick Lavery

Nick Lavery is a Green Beret, author, leader, and speaker whose career exemplifies resilience, courage, and leadership under pressure. He serves as a Special Forces Warrant Officer in the United States Army Special Forces, where he has deployed multiple times and led complex missions in challenging environments. In 2013, while deployed to Afghanistan, Lavery survived an insider attack that resulted in the loss of his right leg. Rather than accept medical retirement, he defied the odds and returned to active duty, becoming the first Special Forces operator to serve in combat as an above‐the‐knee amputee. Lavery is also a best‐selling author of Objective Secure: The Battle‐Tested Guide to Goal Achievement, a sought‐after speaker on leadership, mindset, and performance, and the founder of Team MACHINE, a platform dedicated to helping individuals and teams unlock their potential. His military decorations include the Silver Star, multiple Bronze Stars, and three Purple Hearts, reflecting his valor, tenacity, and commitment to mission success. Lavery’s journey—from battlefield injury to leadership speaker—highlights the power of purpose, perseverance, and disciplined action in overcoming life’s greatest challenges.
