Colour 8mm Film Shows 1964 Britain | Coventry & Lady Godiva · Boat & Horse Races · Tudor Mansion

Step back to Britain in 1964 with this beautifully preserved amateur colour film, capturing everyday life and famous landmarks. Mostly England, but with a Special Guest Appearance by Wales ;-) The journey begins in Coventry's Upper Precinct and Broadgate, featuring the Lady Godiva statue and the famous Godiva Clock striking 4pm. From there, we travel to the 1964 Oxford–Cambridge Boat Race at Mortlake, before an unidentified horse race that may have been one of the major spring fixtures of 1964. The film concludes with visits to the charming Model Village at Bourton-on-the-Water, the magnificent Tudor manor Compton Wynyates, and the dramatic ruins of Harlech Castle in Wales. If you recognise the racecourse or fixture shown at 2:28, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
