Mud, Maggots and Mishaps: Hitting 10-Year Milestones #farming #sheepfarming

In today’s video, I’m rushing between multiple farm tasks to get everything ready for the winter. First up, I’m loading the dung spreader and topping weeds before clearing out the shed to store the hay bales I made in a previous video. This job is long overdue, but time on the farm has been scarce! My trusty old Landcruiser works hard to haul a large trailer full of hay. With the help of a fellow farmer and his tractor loader, we face a big mishap when he gets badly stuck in a wet patch in the field, making a real mess! Luckily the roots of some large trees, help keep the tractor up and we get out... Next, I roughly stack the hay bales in the shed just in time before the rain hits. Then Karol from the ‪@EweTubeIreland‬ channel arrives to shear the ewe lambs with the help of young Archie. We discuss the condition of the lambs, noticing they’re quite dirty and showing signs of a worm burden, so we talk through the treatments we’ve used. We also discover quite a few with maggots! The day isn’t over yet! We rush back to the hay, but my fellow farmer reverses into my stock trailer, causing serious damage to the jockey wheel and drawbar. An expensive mistake on a costly day of shearing, machinery repairs, and field mishaps. Despite the chaos, I finally stack all 170 bales using my old Komatsu digger. To end the video, I take a moment to celebrate a personal milestone: my 10-year wedding anniversary with my wife, Orlaith.
