Hay, Hardship, Broken & Burnt!
Two days. Serious heat & a 33-year-old tractor. In this full-length haymaking video, I take you through the highs and lows of trying to make top-quality hay in just two days — on a tight budget and with even tighter timing. From repairing a neighbour’s mower and reviving my old Ford 6410 to battling overheating engines, blocked filters, and no air conditioning, this was farming at its rawest. Things get worse when the tractor starts steaming mid-job, I run out of diesel and have to fix a piggery between tedding and baling. But somehow, against the odds, it all comes together — and I reckon it’s the best hay I’ve ever made. This is real-life Irish farming: old machines, hard graft, extreme weather, and just enough craic to keep going.
