The Weight We Carry | Appalachian Trail NOBO
Miles 731 - 788. This stretch of the Appalachian Trail reminded me that not all weight fits in a backpack. In this episode I leave the trail briefly to attend my daughter's wedding, spend a rainy hotel day drying gear, explore one of the largest shelters on the AT, rescue a salamander from the trail, and continue north through Virginia. Along the way, a story shared during a trail vesper service left a lasting impression and got me thinking about the burdens, responsibilities, losses, and blessings we all carry. This video is part of a documentary series - One More Step: A Walk For the Broken - a thru hike of the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness and money to prevent veteran suicide.
